S4 E9: The One With A.D.A France Williams

Updated: May 24, 2022

A.D.A France Williams' book Ghost Ship: Institutional Racism and the Church of England has blown open the discussion on why a religion based on the teachings of love by a Jewish Palestinian from the first century has become steeped in discrimination against black and brown people.

In this episode I got the pleasure of unpacking the main message of his writing. We discuss what racial inequality in the Church of England looks like, why the Church has failed black people and look at real life experiences of discrimination. We delve into the past to see what happened to get us to where we are today including how some people have used the Bible to justify racism. We discuss the need to reclaim the brown skinned Jesus for the 21st Century and why attempts to rid the Chuirch of racism has failed.

An important conversation and a challenge to ALL Christians, and humans today.

How to support The RE Podcast

I want to continue to create the RE Podcast as a FREE resource for teachers. However, there are runnings costs. I have to pay a monthly fee to Buzzsprout to host the podcast, I have to pay a fee for the website and the email address, I have to pay a fee to riverside fm to let me record interviews, plus the recording equipment has been a huge investment and needs updating..

There are THREE ways to support;

1) A one off gift at my Buy Me A Coffee page

2) Become and Patreon and give monthly where you will get extra content for FREE.

3) If you can't support financially, please leave a review on apple podcasts
