Do you teach Crime and Punishment to your GCSE students? Or maybe you are a sociology teacher who teaches crime and deviance, or a teacher who understands the importance of education in keeping people out of prison.
In this episode I have the unique priviledge of talking to David Shipley who was sentenced to 45 months in prison for fraud.
David talks openly and humbly about why he committed the crime, his experience of prison , the impact it has had on him, what is wrong with our justice systems and what is needed to reform it. He also talks about the role of religion in prison and how he now understands his catholic beliefs of sin, salvation and atonement on a new level.
